Overview of Position:
Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Operations Petrophysicist to join our Reservoir Management Services team. This Perth based role is responsible for supporting well planning and daily drilling operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations Geologists, Asset Petrophysicists and service company representatives to ensure data quality is appropriately managed during drilling operations and post drilling data analysis. Key to this role is ensuring that lessons learnt on previous wells are effectively captured and applied to new wells.
Position Details:
Key skills and experience required:
• Broad petrophysical experience gained in a similar petrophysicist position
• Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline
• Strong tool physics experience
• Experience in planning, executing, and evaluating petrophysical logs, preferably from offshore gas wells
• Some knowledge of rock mechanics, fluid substitution and log conditioning would be beneficial
• Committed team player who can communicate in a tactful and effective manner within a multidisciplinary team, and with internal and external stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills to ensure the fast and efficient transfer of knowledge, particularly with respect to real time decision making and constantly changing well execution teams
• Sound knowledge of a variety of WL and LWD companies is essential
• Experience evaluating modern and historic petrophysical data
• Demonstrated commitment to Chevron’s values of integrity, partnership and trust and achieving an incident and injury free environment
Key responsibilities include:
• Liaising between the Operations Geologists, Asset Petrophysicists and service company representatives to help execute and monitor Wire line and Logging Well Drilling data acquisition programs
• Working closely with the Rock Mechanics group, providing reliable data for well planning
• Working with the geophysical community performing fluid substitution and de-trending log data
• Populating and maintaining the company databases with field data and post drilling log data
• Using formation evaluation programs such as Geolog, to perform a wide spectrum of petrophysical analyses
• Participating in peer reviews and petrophysical network activities to share, adopt and disseminate best practices
• Effectively leverage experience from other subsurface teams, Chevron’s Energy Technology Company and communities of practice
• Attending and participating in technical meetings with joint venture partners and internal stakeholders
• Commitment to health, environment, safety and Chevron’s best practices
